Day 2 - Ayutthaya - Wat Chaiwatanaram

The mini-van driver dropped us off near a tour agent. The tuk-tuk driver cannot speak English but the tour agent could. He showed us pictures of temples to visit. Since we had done our research and had decided the temples to visit, we told him our plans. We negotiated and the price was settled at 200baht/hr for about 2-3 hours. And off we go! The first temple we visited was Wat Chaiwatanaram. This is the most beautiful temple in Ayutthaya, on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, outside Ayutthaya island, higly recommended by locals. The temple has a structure designed in the Khmer style. A very mini Ang Kor Wat and of course not comparable to the magnificent Ang Kor Wat.
